The Carolina Lowcountry and Georgia Settings of Breaking and Holding

As a native Savannahian, how could I not set my novel along the Southeastern coast?  So I planted my characters on Kiawah Island in the Carolina Lowcountry in the summer of 1978.  And there—with the hypnotic powers of the ocean, a secluded beach house, tennis matches on sun-fired courts, and the seductive charm of historic Charleston—the story began to unfold. True, the opening chapter is set in New York, and the City eventually  returns, but the settings in between are in the South. They are places I know and love.
